OVERVIEW

Delux, established in 2025, is a fresh brand that sells handmade press-on nails online. It intends to expand the business through its own website. My responsibility is to create the nail display card, the thanks card for the basic package set, and a social post for the opening promotion. The goal is to use a light package that is cost-effective, fits a low budget, and posts eye-catching content for the digital social community, which cultivates social awareness and announcements.

The brand includes a logo but currently lacks a branding guideline, making it challenging to define a visual system and font choice. However, the gradient color in use represents a rich and colorful look, and the key value proposition of the brand is "Polished, Modern, Elegant".


The assets have to fulfill the following requirements:

  • Enough space for nail placement

  • Double-sided cards with instructions

  • The Social post is good to have micro-animation

The client responded positively to the design and successfully addressed their touch points, with a concise design that highlighted the product. However, since we didn't request the sample print, the gradient appeared lighter in the final output. If we can test it before quantity production, the adjustment of color saturation will help to achieve a more fulfilling overall visual impact.

For brainstorming, I researched online references for cards that align with the brand's proposition. I pulled up some image vibes and tones that match the logo color to create a clear card without being tedious, given that press-on nails mostly align with multiple colors. I am still keeping the background clean so that it doesn't overshadow the product itself.

I designed the nail display card with a curved shape, and created a face illustration for the thank you card, which was matched with 'Elegant' and 'Modern' in a feminine theme. Additionally, because the card size is limited, I asked the print shop to print on paper to validate if the text is readable on the card.

I created a glass liquid through Spline around the logo to imitate the clear gel. Since the press-on nails were made with gel and polish, they adhere to the brand's identity and product specifications. And completed the post animation via Canva, which provides preset Instagram post dimensions, helping to speed up the design.

For the thanks card, the printer noted a potential risk of color bleeding from the front to the back; thus, I refined the back design by adding a thick stroke to minimize the impact on the overall layout, even if slight color transfer occurred.

Overall, the client appreciated my design and especially liked the concept developed for the post; however, the nail display card left room for improvement. Since printed colors tend to appear darker, I initially chose a softer gradient with lower saturation. Indeed, I’m aware that color differences can occur between screen and print, but we didn't do a sample print. As always, I would prefer to request a sample print to better fine-tune the color or typography before mass production.
